MAYPORT, Fla. (NNS) -- USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) made its second port stop at Naval Station Mayport, Fla., Dec. 9 to transfer supplies and personnel as the ship conducted Carrier Qualifications (CQ) and other training evolutions along the East Coast.
The ship off-loaded embarked Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) crew members and on-loaded additional Training Command (TRACOM) personnel, who will be conducting CQ on board the carrier in the coming days.
Port stops in Florida are standard operating procedure for East Coast-based aircraft carriers conducting CQ due to its homeport status for many Florida-based squadrons.
Mayport was a working port stop for George H.W. Bush Sailors as the ship departed for sea approximately five hours after arrival in Mayport to continue training.
USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) is preparing for the ship's first combat deployment scheduled in 2011, and is homeported in Norfolk, Va.
