Northern Lights Puts on Show for Cold Response Exercise Participants
The Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43) passes under the Northern Lights while participating in Exercise Cold Response 2016 (CDR 16). CDR 16 involves maritime, land and air operation training and focuses on naval and amphibious operations transitions to ground maneuver. The location in central Norway provides an extreme cold-weather environment for the 12 participating countries to collectively develop tactics, techniques and procedures and increase interoperability.
