For decades 344.6 MHz has been a worldwide military Metro (weather frequency). Several years ago I noticed that station in the CONUS where being moved elsewhere. This was one of the first indications we had that DoD was implementing a new bandplan for the 225-400 MHz milair band.
The latest move is MacDill AFB. They have moved to the same frequency as Patrick AFB, who moved a short time ago to 225.050 MHz.
So who is left? Well in CONUS not much. Overseas we see no change which indicates to us that the new bandplan that was implemented by DoD was for CONUS only.

If you live near McClellan Airfield, Grissom ARB, Joint Base Andrews Naval Air Facility, Whiteman AFB, MCALF Bogue Field, Pope AFB or Wright Patterson AFB, please keep an eye on 344.6 and if you no longer hear activity on 344.600 MHz, we would appreciate it if you drop us some email at the address in the masthead.
Those of us who have been following these developments are betting who will be the last Metro standing on 344.600 MHz. My money is on Andrews.
