What I haven't listed here are the hundreds of civilian airline and bizjets Mode-S equipped aircraft listings. Those listings would go on and on for pages and I won't post them up here on this subject specific blog. If you are a civilian aviation monitoring enthusiast, then a Mode-S box or a Pinkfroot app should be on your bucketlist.

If you are interested in monitoring voice comms from military and civilian aircraft regardless of band, you need a scanner or HF receiver. The good folks at Grove Enterprises here in Brasstown have a wide selection of scanners and HF receivers, antennas, and other monitoring accessories that will help you hear your radio listening environment. Be sure to check out http://grove-ent.com/ for all your monitoring equipment.

In order to track ADS-B equipped aircraft or AIS ships, if you live near a waterway or the coast, checkout the Pinkfroot Plane Finder and Ship Finder apps for real time tracking on the iPhone, iPod, iPod and now the Android platform as well. Their website is located at http://my.pinkfroot.com/.

Pinkfroot has also just posted up a new on-line live air traffic radar map at planefinder.net, and a super fast ship map at shipfinder.co. Both of these online tracking tools provide amazing ADS-B and AIS virtual radar information straight to your PC or Mac.

To monitoring Mode-S transmissions, you will need some quality receiving equipment. I recommend you checkout the Kinetic Avionics website at http://www.kinetic-avionics.com/. They have some neat toys that will add a whole new dimension to your radio monitoring hobby.

Finally, for some of the best military radio monitoring information available in the public domain, be sure to check out my monthly Milcom column in Monitoring Times magazine. You can even choose a print or electronic versions of this great monthly magazine. Go to http://www.monitoringtimes.com/ to order your subscription.
