Frequency Change - Hanscom CP

For my friends in the Northeast US - Hanscom AFB (Laurence G. Hanscom Field) MA (KBED) has reportedly moved its Command Post from 397.100 MHz to 362.950 MHz. This move has long been expected since the old CP frequency is now a nationwide DoD LMR frequency assignment.

The 380-400 MHz LMR Subband Cleanout Continues

As I have written about many times in my monthly MT Milcom column, DoD continues to cleanout selected aeronautical frequencies in the new 380-400 MHz LMR subband to make way for new LMR (Trunk and Simplex) and wideband assignments.

The latest shoe to fall is the last command post on 383.200 MHz (Scott AFB) that has now moved to its new home on 349.400 MHz, a USAF natonwide Command Post frequency assignment.

There should be no more CPs on 383.200 MHz and that frequency is now part of a new wideband subband within the 380-400 MHz frequency range.

End of an Era - Almost!

Over the last few years, I have documented the wholesale changes to DoDs bandplan in the 225-400 MHz milair band. One of the casualties of the bandplan changes has been the 344.600 MHz nationwide Metro (weather) frequency. This frequency is going away and a recent NOTAM change last month documented the Cape Canaveral AFS Metro move from 344.600 MHz to 225.050 MHz. So what is left on 344.600 MHz. Here is the list of the last few Metro stations on this one that "will" be moving in the near future to another Metro frequency near you!

The area in and around 287.0000 is interesting. It is another segment of the UHF milair spectrum where AM aero services are being moved out. This strongly suggest based on previous assignments in and around this freq and past intercepts, that this may be a new wideband sub-band in the 225-400 MHz spectrum. I have more exclusive details on this in my Septemmber 2009 MT Milcom column, including some in-depth analysis of the changes in the 380-400 MHz LMR sub-band.
